Actually, that's a fair comparison. The shape and strings are very much the same. It's simply encased in hollowed wood with the strings facing the floor and ceiling. Instead of strumming, little hammers strike at each string to play a particular note when you hit a key.

[He hums a little in thought.]

It might be easier to see how it works if we had one.

It's not a bad thing to not know something. It simply means that there's something 'new' out there to learn or discover, if you want to.
